Audio restoration is a generalized term for the process of removing imperfections (such as hiss, impulse noise, crackle, wow and flutter, background noise, and mains hum) from sound recordings. Modern audio restoration techniques are usually performed by digitizing an audio source from analog media, such as lacquer recordings, optical sources and magnetic tape.
We have an excellent sounding vintage studer A80 1/4 inch - 7,5 & 15ips as playback ATR when digitizing your old mastertapes & precious recordings. The other ATR is an exclusive A80RC 1/2 inch rec/play at 15/30ips.
Once in the digital realm, recordings can be restored and cleaned up using our digital audio workstation. The DAW can perform various automated techniques to remove anomalies using algorithms to accomplish broadband denoising, declicking and decrackling, as well as removing buzzes and hums.
Often we use software to manually remove "pops and ticks" from recordings, and the latest spectrographic 'retouching' techniques allow for the suppression or removal of discrete unwanted sounds. Software is capable of removing the smallest of anomalies, often without leaving artifacts and other evidence of their removal. Although fully automated solutions exist, audio restoration is sometimes a time consuming manual process that requires a skilled audio engineer.
We can work from the next sources,
1/4 tape ( 7,5 & 15 ips)
1/2 tape ( 15 & 30 ips)
DAT
Cassette
Vinyl
Almost all digital sources.
Restoration & re-mastering to High Resolution Audio :
Re-mastering older releases even from cd formats, can be done by me at inlinemastering. Main focus would be extreme cleaning, de_click checking and de_noising if needed, and after that we can master through our high_end analog setup. If the sound/projects benefits from a transfer to high_speed 1/2 inch tape at 30ips we also can do that. Re-mastering can be ( will be ) a bit more complicated and include some more steps, but we always work closely with you to get the best result in respect to the original release and your artistic intentions. We look forward helping you out and get your analog sources safe, clean and ready for digital distribution in any digital format you want (dsd/dxd/pcm).

I still feel mastering is no gear magic, first of all it's listening to your mixes or album as it comes in.
