Well I've done the long run up to this setup I guess, since the Atari1040ST and my fostex 260 4track cassete portastudio. In the past we started out with the tubetech multiband ( still miss that big blue bastard ) and smart c2's , Maselec MEA-2, Manley VariMU, apogee, benchmark, hedd's and more small stuff & software . We're still stuck with our speakers for a long time, and still the Millennia NSEQ-2F is there , same as the anamod ATS1 which made me take the tape_jump because I really appreciated the sound.
Reducing gear and focusing on listening and just adding a few pieces of fantastic sounding analog gear was something that was stuck in my mind, while building & working & growing my mastering studio .... I think I was lucky to add the fairman TMEQ and fairman TMC as main analog workhorses ... The weiss DS1 and the weiss EQ are still there and used on a lot of projects ... I think I love my tools, and sticking with them for a long time , makes me appreciate them even more as they challenge me ,together with your music , to become a better listener.

I still feel mastering is no gear magic, first of all it's listening to your mixes or album as it comes in.
